Practical Experience for Projects Above and Below Ground

Hummingbird Building & Excavation provides stormwater, excavation, and outdoor improvement services throughout the Puget Sound region.

Our work ranges from maintaining and restoring stormwater facilities to excavation, drainage, grading, decks, and select property improvements. Whether the project starts with an inspection report, a drainage problem, an undeveloped site, or an idea for improving your property, we bring hands-on experience and practical problem-solving to the work.

sTORMWATER & dRAINAGE

Specialized experience where water meets the site

Stormwater facilities need ongoing maintenance to remain accessible and functional. When sediment, vegetation, drainage issues, or site conditions require more substantial work, Hummingbird has the equipment and excavation capability to move beyond routine maintenance.

Our stormwater and drainage services may include:

  • Stormwater pond and bioswale maintenance

  • Vegetation and invasive species management

  • Sediment and accumulated material removal

  • Inlet, outlet, and access clearing

  • Facility regrading and site restoration

  • Biofiltration media removal and replacement

  • Drainage improvements and corrections

  • Excavation associated with stormwater infrastructure

  • Routine and recurring facility maintenance

Have an inspection report?

If an inspection has found maintenance items at your facility, send the report with your project request. We’ll use the information to understand the site, assess the needs, and determine if the work is a good fit for Hummingbird.

eXCAVATION & sITE wORK

sTART wITH THE gROUNDWORK

Excavation is central to many of the projects Hummingbird takes on.

We provide excavation and site work for standalone projects, as well as work related to stormwater, drainage, utilities, and outdoor improvements.

Services may include:

  • Site clearing and preparation

  • Grading and reshaping

  • Utility trenching

  • Storm and sanitary utility excavation

  • Drainage excavation and improvements

  • Footing and foundation preparation

  • Material excavation and removal

  • Small demolition and site cleanup

  • Backfill and site restoration

  • Driveway and access preparation

  • Other excavation and earthwork

Because we work across excavation, drainage, stormwater, and construction, we can often address site conditions that affect more than one part of a project.

Outdoor Improvements

Make Your Property Work Better

Hummingbird takes on select outdoor improvement projects for homeowners and property owners where construction, site work, drainage, and outdoor usability come together.

Rather than offering general landscaping or routine yard maintenance, we focus on projects that benefit from construction and site work experience.

Projects may include:

  • Deck construction and replacement

  • Grading and yard corrections

  • Drainage improvements

  • Vegetation and brush clearing

  • Site and property cleanup

  • Access improvements

  • Select landscape improvements associated with site work

  • Exterior construction projects

If a project also requires excavation, grading, clearing, or drainage corrections, we can often address those conditions as part of the overall work.

When Services Overlap

One Site Doesn’t Always Mean One Type of Work

Outdoor projects rarely fit perfectly into a single category.

A stormwater restoration may require vegetation removal, excavation, hauling, grading, and revegetation. A drainage correction may require trenching and site restoration. A deck or property improvement may uncover grading or drainage issues that need to be addressed before the finished work can be completed.

Hummingbird’s range of field experience allows us to approach the project based on the conditions of the site, not just the name of the service.

Not Sure Where Your Project Fits?

You don’t need to diagnose the problem before contacting us.

Tell us what you’re trying to accomplish or what you’re seeing on the property. Photos, plans, inspection reports, and other project information are helpful when available.

We’ll review what you send and let you know whether the project is a good fit for Hummingbird.
